This thread will contain the current releases for all of the software/hardware updates you can use with your cartridge.

I'll try to keep the attachments in this first message up to date with current stable versions, and add work in progress releases to try as follow up posts.

Any questions, comments, bug reports, etc are all welcome. I can also be contacted by e-mail at classics@atarimax.com

Firmware versions are dates in YYYYMMDD format. Newer releases will always be higher numbers written this way.

Current release versions:

Removed - Please see last post in this thread for current version numbers

You can find the current versions installed on your cartridge by pressing '*' on either controller to access the settings menu.

The files you will find here are named:

Hardware Logic core_hardware.bin
Boot ROM core_boot.rom
CPU Firmware core_firmware.bin
Menu Software cvsdos.sto

Upgrade Instructions removed - Instructions now included in update package, depending on version currently installed

See the last post in this thread for update information.

This is for the Colecovision. If you need the images for the 5200 please e-mail me at classics@atarimax.com or atarimax@gmail.com.

Thanks,

Steve

This post is outdated, scroll down for latest

The current stable firmware package will show these versions when you press '*' at the directory listing:

Hardware: 20141104
Boot Flash: 20150207
Menu: 20141102
Firmware: 20141102

If any of your firmware versions are less than shown above I recommend you upgrade if you are encountering any bugs like prolonged startup times.

The current beta firmware is:

Hardware: 20160607
Boot Flash: 20150207
Menu: 20141102
Firmware: 20160607

This includes fixes for a few hardware and firmware bugs that may not impact many people. It also includes support for 64kB "Activision" cartridges less eeprom support.

To obtain either firmware please e-mail classics@atarimax.com. If possible please include the list of versions currently installed in your cartridge as the oldest versions may require a different upgrade procedure.

Thanks,

Steve

My firmware shows 20160609 ... is that okay? I'm not having any issues of course so no need to update, just wondering why my version is a little higher than what you posted.

Where is the firmware/menu software download link???

Site says in several places the link(s) can be found in the forums, but they appear to have been removed. My Colecovision SD cartridge started doing the endless blinking error that has been referenced by other users in threads, which don't have a solution response, so I reformatted in hopes of reinstalling to fix the issue. Now I can't operate my cartridge at all without installing the firmware and menu software back onto the card, but no download link appears.

Please, where can I re-download the firmware/menu software so I can use my Colecovision ultimate SD cartridge again? I've emailed several times but haven't received a response yet.

I'm currently facing the same issue with my cartridge which has a 2010 firmware.
Last week I sent an email to Steve as recommanded above to get the latest firmaware but I haven't received any answer yet.

Also looking for the latest firmware... where's the download?
Also just sent an email, but sounds like that hasn't been working for others here. If anyone does hear back, please post here and let us know. I'll do the same if no one else has and I hear back.

Seems like if they are taking pre-orders, someone must be around.

Hi Hastor.

The best advice I can give you is to write an email to Steve.
He may take a while to answer but he will.

About one week after my last post (see above) he brought me the latest firmware and told me that the "blinking menu item" issue I'm facing could be coming from an hardware issue on the joystick controller side.

The current beta firmware is:

Hardware: 20190623
Boot Flash: 20190623
Menu: 20190606
Firmware: 20190610

This beta release will make it much more likely that you will immediately return to the menu when reset on the cartridge is pressed.

All components shown above must be updated to the versions shown or newer to test out this feature.

To obtain firmware please e-mail classics@atarimax.com. If possible please include the list of versions currently installed in your cartridge as the oldest versions may require a different upgrade procedure.

Thanks,

Steve

Is there a list of changes in the new beta release? I also sent an email about getting the files and haven't heard anything back. I just wanted to double check that you got my email.

Thanks

Hi, my current firmware:
Hardware: 20160607
Boot Flash: 20150207
Menu: 20141102
Firmware: 20160609

I'm having troubles loading Colectorvision roms. Games like Galaga and Monster House Yokai seem to hang on boot. Wonder if the newest firmware will help with these roms?

Hmm I never heard back from my email to Steve... But he's posted here since. Maybe an issue with that email account?
I'm gonna need to dig up my 5200 to get its current versions off it, only have my Coleco out currently, and I'll reach out through a different email.
