We were not using the fatloader. These disks do not work with the fatloader. Beside that you cant swap disk and have no write access.
MyBIOS is the answer. That has osb compatibility. Boot that, use image mode and boot the disk there. That works, be sure to use 4.9.B16

I was using the image mode with MyBIOS. I'm just saying that I think the problem is with OS-B because I can't get anything with OS-B to work...even with the FAT32 Loader. For example... try the attached osb-required roms with the FAT32 Launcher. They should work but with my cart they don't.

OSB compatibility is always an issue on XL/XE systems.
FATloader uses a OSB-files from fat32, loads into OSRAM, patches it and starts what ever you have loaded. Now the compatibility of "what ever you have loaded" kicks in. If it disables OSRAM or uses it itself, no way it works.
MyBIOS does the some, it loads a full BIOS into OSRAM and let the user choose what ever he wants to load. Same rule here: Now the compatibility of "what ever you have loaded" kicks in.
With all respect, OSB-support of FATloader is less then MyBIOS 4.9.B16
I see you uploaded ROM's, thoose are the hardest to run on XL/XE.
Did you try MyBIOS first and then the FATloader? First load MyBIOS, then SHIFT, go back to the cartridge. Load the FATloader, load the romfile. (Be sure to disable the OSB-function of the FATloader) So remove the [osb] from the filename
Going to check them later today too.
Grtz, Sijmen.

Nah, all three ROMS's do the same:
They disable OSRAM and switch back to the stock XL/XE-OS. So this is a no-go area.

There sure are many different requirements that you need to know to get the different types of software to run. Thanks for checking on these for me. I'll let you know if I ever get "Ulysses" to run.

I patched the two "K"-roms, they seem to work on xl/xe now. Only needed to correct the pointer to the vector-table.
The other wasn't a rom, but a xex and it needed basic. That one did not needed patching. So I changed it to .xex and added [basic] in the filename.

That's great. Thanks for all your help!
Do you know of a game that requires OS-B that I can try? I want to be sure my system and/or cart works with OS-B. Anything that I can try launching with the FAT32 Launcher to verify would be fine.

Try Acey Deucey. That one loads with FATloader in OS-B mode.
(It's one of the "test"-files I use to debug MyBIOS)
The file-name has [osb], so it loads into OS-B mode automatically. Remove this tag or use control-O to load without, thus as XL/XE.
Just to double check: You have both OSB.BIN and MATHPACK.BIN in the root.

Acey Deucey works. So much for my theory. I would like to try to rebuild my cart from scratch. I also want to use MyBIOS to format the FAT32 partition and hope that it fixes the MyIDE Drive Manager front-end issue. I originally followed this link ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YQodgRABCUAbut it is for an older MyBIOS so some of the screens and steps were different. Do you have a document that will guide me step-by-step on how to format the card and re-create the drive and FAT partition from scratch for MyBIOS 4.9.B16? My card also has these crazy characters in slot 162 and up and maybe redoing it will clean these up... I understand, but there is absolutely no need to re-do your card from scratch.
The manual is downloadable from the 4.9-beta topic. The only difference between 4.8.x and 4.9.x is the menu-key. 4.8.x uses control+shift+tab (directly) 4.9.x uses HELP (delayed, hold >1s)
Best to do now, is to redo all images and image-space. Use the Erase-all command in the MyIDE-MENU Then confirm Y on to erase images. (This can take some time, please be patient) Say N to erase partitions.
This will clear all images, names and garbage present.
Hmmm, this could very well solve the manager start-up problem. Now you mention this.... It does remove garbage...
If you like, I made a new build, since ATbasic 1.53 was released some days ago on A.A.

I downloaded the manual and followed the Quick-Start (MyDOS) on page 5 with a different 4GB CF card. I didn't see a "M" to press for Make as stated in bullet-points 7 and 8 so I used "K". Was that correct?
This process removed the garbage in those upper slots and I can now use MyIDE Drive Manager to write to the image slots. Using the video to prepare the cart like I did the first time wasn't the same as following your guide. Your guide did more things. Perhaps that's why MyIDE Drive Manager didn't like it.
However, Ulysses still will not load. I purchased an 800XL and it won't load on that either. The Dallas Quest loads fine though.
Very puzzling.
Edit: There is a version of Ulysses which does load. It's rel. 1 in the attached .zip. Would you be able to compare rel. 1 with rel. 2? Perhaps that might tell you why rel. 2 (desired version) is not running?

Yes, K is the highlighted letter in "make". Always use the highlighted letter to perform the action needed. I need to review the manual, but I didn't since it was in beta-stage, sorry. It's on my to do list now. On your other card: I'm sure when you do erase-all and Y to images, the garbage is gone too. Do not clear the partitions. No zip-file found, I tested the one you zipped and uploaded in the first few posts. download/file.php?id=1753That I have tested and can confirm that version of Ulysses works. Beside that, I'm busy next week, so I be back at the Atari next weekend. I do read the forum, but can't do much.

Yeah, finally back at the Atari I notice, you now have send 3 versions of the game. The first upload some weeks ago and 2 new versions in the last post. #1 First upload: works. #2 Second upload, rel 1: works. #3 Second upload, rel 2: locks-up. I have to investigate further, it seems then #3 uses an illegal loading-method (ab)using the 6502-stack.... More news tomorrow. What is wrong with the first upload in respect to your "desired version"? Grtz, Sijmen.

Hi Mr Atari.
This is weird. I thought the version I uploaded first was the same as "rel 2" in this last upload. Now it is locking up on your end just like it does for me. Release 2 is the "Sierra On-Line" release. I like the official Sierra releases so I was hoping to get this one working.
BTW...I saw your Atari website. Your collection is incredible!
