Maybe easy answer on the following:

In MyIDE I cannot understand the following in HELP/MAIN-MENU:

-RESET- : What means combination of IIII OOOO ... binary combination of I/O ?
-SETTINGs- : Prot, iMage
-IMAGE-: Load (pushing L - blue led 2x blicks and black monitor)
Save (same, but nothing happens)
Antic/Shadow/Trace - I read some short explanation, but probably the author understands it, for the user these things are mystery.

Thanks,
Peter

Post subject:  Re: MyIDE-II Compact Flash Cartridge Now Available!

... I forgot:

If I go to Image section, there are empty lines > .... E , but I do not know, how to deal with that section. Is it the same are what I created by FAT32 loader? But I do not see the files, what I have in FAT32 are.

What is the SIDE procedure. Looks like the FAT32 loader, but behaves differently. There is the first line about the status. When I click on it, the whole thing crushes.

Thanks,
Peter

In sequence of your questions:

1111 0000, For non-programmers: Just ignore this.
It are the upper 4 bits of the MyIDE controle-byte.
Telling about ram, rom, 8 or 16k etc.

Prot:
Set IDE-access to read-only (write protected)
(toggle)

Image:
Select access to the image partition for D1: (instead of the logical partition)
(toggle)

Save/Load:
Save or load user memory to CF.
Used for cheating in games.

anykey - Antic/Shodow/Trace:
How to return to the running software (exit from this menu).
anykey - normal
antic - restore antic form shadow-registers
shadow - use all shadow-registers for antic and gtia
- if nothing else works... Trace

Image menu:
Here are disk-images stored in a separate image partition.
There must be images (a valid name with valid density).
enter will select this image and uses it as D1:

Beside this, please refer to the manual.

And if I'm talking gibberish, the selection you mention is perhaps not of interest for you yet.

Sijmen

Post subject:  Re: Peters questions

Put a disk in D1:

Press >
Input NAME FOR THIS SLOT
Press Y (to confirm)

This will copy from D1: to the image slot selected.
Density will be detected and set (S/M/D) correctly.

Alternatively, use your PC, a card reader, and the tool MyIDE-manager.
To move ATR-files from PC to your CF-card / image-space.

Grtz,
Sijmen.

Hi Sijmen,

After long time I tried to play with MyIDE II. I found on Jonathan Hallyday's webpage an update for SDX made a few mounths ago.
I am totally out, how to deal with MyIDE cartridge setup. Probably I have a very old software there (2017), and I could not find any documentation, how to deal with programming of the MyIDE II to have SDX (4.49) installed and correctly run.

Please, give me some hints, where to find all information. ATARIMAX removed all documentation for all products and poiting on the forum. Not really good way ... (my opinion) ...
My hobby is to setup everything on my ATARIs to be current and fully functional, so, next to SIDE2 cartridge I would like to experiment also with MyIDE.

Thank you,
Peter

Visit the SDX site for the .RAM file of this 4.49 version.
Load it with the fatloader, done.

I have no idea what you mean that documents have removed.
For as I can see, all is in place.

Post subject:  Lost answer frok You

Hi Sijmen,

Unfortunately after opening your answer from you it disappeared. I remember only you pointed me to ATARIMAX Page (?)

What I mentioned I cannot find documentation about handling MyIDE II cartridge, it is the fact, ATARIMAX removed all
documentations which was there before on many pages and gave step-by-step directions how to program, uploade files into the ROM of MyIDE II.
Now they have only a fuzzy link to a forum, what is too chaotic to find something.

So, on https://atari8.co.uk/apt/myide/ I find from April/2020 ROM files for MyIDE II and SDX system. I do not have clue, how to use it.
Additionally, my original setup on my PC was lost by the system crash and I lost all software and information about MyIDE II, what I would like to use again.

I would like a help from you. This forum is also very chaotic to find something and I guess also, my question is very specific, no answer jet there for it.

Because the mentioned SDX files are on Jonathan Halliday's webpage I was contacting him many time but with no responses from him.
I contacted SDX guys also, they answered, it is specific to MyIDE and I have to ask the author of this product for all supporting software.

By the way, It is a long lasting issue with MyIDE II - no Reset button on it and at any crash of system the only way is tou use the switch OFF/ON.
It is not a smart approach ... You in past sent me a picture about your home solution wit reset button on the cartridge. May I ask you for details,
how to make that modification on cartridge?

Thank you and sorry for many questions,
Peter

Again, I have no clue about "missing" files.
MyIDE-][ is a plug-and-play device.
Changing the content can be done (at your won risk) with the atarimax studio software.
Or with ready to use versions.

I am moderator on this forum and the inventor of the MyIDE-port.
I am not the manager of Atarimax, nor do I maintain the homepage.
I am just on the forum to help poelple as much as I can with there MyIDE-hardware.

SDX:
download the "RAM" version from the SDX-homepage.
Put that on your CF card, load it with the FAT-loader.
That is it. SDX loads and starts.
You need to configure SDX (yourself, with the supplied toolkit) to match the hardware you are running.
For some tips, you can check here:
viewtopic.php?f=17&t=1591
But better use the SDX-homepage and there manual/instructions.

I can't help you with SDX, I am not a SpartaDos-guy.
Helping you, how to setting up on your MyIDE-][, yeah, sure, read above.

The reset-button is an optional item you can buy from Atarimax.
It's on request only, not a stock/standard item.
