Complete Newb here looking to dump my Intellivision and Colecovision cartridges and place the games onto respective carts. I know I need the Maxflash USB Cartridge Programmer Kit. I know I will also need the Intellivision and Colecovision Dumping Adapters. Where I am confused is in regard to the Flash Carts in which I want to transfer the roms I've dumped into them. The physical dimensions of Atari, Colecovision, and Intellivision carts are all different. So 1) How do the flash carts accomodate the difference in console cartridge slot sizes and 2) From an application perspective when would I choose the 1-Mbit cartridge over the 8-Mbit cartridge?

Thanks.

You need 2 cartridges, one for each system.
Coleco runs games from a SD card (or the 128 in 1 flash).
I don't see intellivision (flash/SD) cartridges on atarimax.
The ones you are referring to is for the atari XL line.

Thank you so much for your reply. Just to be sure, let me see if I understand your answer correctly:

Regarding Colecovision, I can use the USB programmer and appropriate Colecovision dumping adapter and dump the roms to my PC and then transfer them to the Colecovision 128 in 1 Flash Multi-Cart or the Colecovision Ultimate SD though via different methods.

Regarding the Intellivision, I can use the USB programmer and appropriate Intellivision dumping adapter and dump the roms to my PC, but currently there is no Intellivision Flash Multi-Cart to transfer the roms to.

Do I understand this correctly now and if so, is there an "Intellivision Flash Multi-Cart" available anywhere to transfer the roms to for game play from the Intellivision console?

Thanks again.

Well I finally purchased both the MaxFlash Programmer along with the Colecovision dumping adapter, the Intellivision dumping adapter and the Colecovision Ultimate SD. Upon using the Programmer to dump the carts, I notice that the information extracted is not in the form of a rom, but a bin file. Yet the CV bins still run fine from the CV Ultimate SD.

My questions now are:

1. If using the Intellivision dumping adapter, do its bin files need to be converted to rom, in order to use them on the LTO Flash Multicart for example? If so, how would such a conversion be done?
2. If I purchased an Atari 2600 dumping adapter, are the dumped files stored as bins or ATRs?

I appreciate and help one may be willing to offer to bring me up to speed.

Most of the time .bin files and .rom files are equal/same.
Just rename them.
That is what I notice most of the time.

But sometimes .rom files have a header to specify what type of cartridge the it should emulate.
You should be able to find them easily with google.

For intellivision, I guess it's the same.

ATR files are disk-images, so you won't encounter that when dumping cartridges.
