I'm new here, so please forgive me if this is an obvious question... I have had a good look around online and downloaded the APE software trial in readyness... but I have a question...

I want to make .atr files of my existing discs. I have a working 800 and 1050 drive but would like to connect the drive directly to the PC to create the .atr's. The ProSystem app looks like the software for the task but it's not clear whether this works with the USB SIO2PC kit or just the serial version?? (The app currently only shows serial/COM ports under file - but I guess this could change once the USB SIO is connected and configured?)

Basically, which one do I need (serial or USB) to easily perform these tranfers? Please help ;-) I am running XP

Thanks

ProSystem works with both, BUT with the RS232 version of the interface you will need an Atari computer to provide external power to the interface in ProSYstem mode.

With the USB interface it can draw power from the USB bus and you can attach only a 1050 disk drive, with no need for an Atari computer to provide power.
