Ok it's been a while since I loaded games with the sio2pc. I know certain games, such as Demon Attack require you to first loan and run a "converter" file in position one, run it, the swap it with Demon Attack, from position two. Lots of other games require this method as well. Does anyone know what I mean and if so where this converter file can be found?

What you are looking for is the "Translator" disk. Basically it loads an 800 OS into the RAM under ROM on the XL/XE. Some games called routines directly in the OS ROM instead of using the official Atari published vectors.

This should be it I think...

Thank you so much! That was it exactly.
Curious though, what is the difference between the two files?

I never really knew myself and always used side A... until I read this (right out of the source code of the Translator disk!):

http://www.atariage.com/forums/topic/78 ... or-source/

";In order to properly service a [RESET]-triggered WARM START,
; the RAM-based O.S. has been modified to continually "watch"
; the contents of the DOSINI vector. When/if the application
; sets this vector the O.S. saves the contents and steals it
; back so that it always points to some code which re-enables
; the soft O.S. upon [RESET]. A normal WARM START is then
; processed by the soft O.S. This [RESET] key handling only
; works for applications which do not themselves jump through
; DOSINI. Side 'B' of the TRANSLATOR diskette has been config-
; ured to allow programs of this class (ie. any which boot the
; 850 Interface Module) to run properly. However, in this case
; the [RESET] key will not reselect the RAM-based O.S."

Wow - 20 years after the fact, I learn the difference! Thanks for posting.
