Having problems flashing the bios on my internal ide.
I want to upgrade to 4.6i but every time I attempt to flash with the xex from the 4.6 zip, my computer locks. Have tried the my ide internal flash maker and the xex it creates locks also. I have tried from Ape mirror drive on my pc, from a hd partition on the my ide internal, from a physical floppy, from an atr in ape, and from a 8mb and 1mb flash cartridge. I can get it to run from a flash cart when mydos is loaded first and I use option B run cartridge, but when it loads it says No flashable OS detected.
What am I doing wrong or what am I missing?
The ide portion is working fine, have 3 65535 sector partitions plus image space, all works.
I have tested on two 800xls with the same result.
I am using a transend 256 meg ide flash module and standard 800xl, 512k and a simple stereo board
please help, beginning to think that there is something wrong with the flashable OS portion of the my ide internal

Best is to boot the flasher.XEX from APE/Mirror.
Put the rescue jumper on the interface, boot. Load the XEX with the APE-loader and follow the instructions on the screen. (remove the jumper when asked en press START).
Later, Sijmen.

Thanks Sijmen for your response
I had already tried that, but for giggles I did it again.\
I installed the rescue jumper. Placed mydos in slot 1 of ape and placed the mirror in slot 2, rebooted than attempted to load the bios flasher.xex from the mirror drive. but my computer still locks,
Funny, I can run the flasher.xex from atari800win emulator
but it will not run on my second 800xl or my 1200xl, but they dont have the my ide internal installed.
I can run any other xex (games demos ect) from my mirror drive or my HD partitions on my internal IDE
Do you think mydos could be the problem?
maybe I should make a auto booting atr with a different dos?
By the way I updated my ide 1mb flashcart to 4.6f, looks great
thanks, Rob

Hi Rob,
The flasher unfortunately won't load with many dosses... Only picodos is one I believe. I always use the mirror drive and that works fine for me always. Anyhow, I'll check the XEX-file and re-flash myself. Perhaps I made a compilation error?
Thanks for the compliments, re-writing a BIOS is fun to do, but not always easy....
Later, Sijmen. (Nice avatar btw)

Hmmm, mine locks too. So there is a mistake made with the flasher. I'll check, recompile and upload later. Thanks for the find

Fixed Goto the MyBIOS 4.6 topic for the download.

Well I got the flasher running, but it is reporting that I have no flashable os. I then used the internal flash maker tool and made a xex with a different os and it too reports no flashable os. I then grabbed my volt ohm meter and checked all my solder joints and the install is clean. I think my flash module on the internal ide is bad. One more thing whether or not the pin 20 jumper is installed it will still read my transend flash card. Do you have any other ideas
thanks Rob

Hi Rob,
Good question, I have no idea.
I only get the message no flashable os when the rescue jumper is on. With jumper 20 removed, my transcend module does not reply. After the time-out during powerup the system boots without IDE.
I guess you have to contact atarimax (steve) for this hardware issue.
Later, Sijmen.
