Hi Guys
I just got a 600XL and need to know what device to get
Also looking for a memory upgrade..
Ok will this work MyIDE+FLASH IDE Interface Cartridge for XL/XE Computers
and is there power on pin 20 after reading some of the post's and seeing
the the devices I had to ask i'm new to the Atari computer and it gets
a bit confusing..

Hi Chris,

You need a expanded (64k) 600XL for the Cartridge interface.
This is needed because the MyIDE-bios is loaded into the upper 16k RAM (of the needed 64K).
A 600XL only has 16K at the lower end of the address-range.

Development in a 600XL bios-support is too early to make it worth buying one without expanding your XL.

Pin 20 always have power, the early production didn't.

P.S. If you can solder, there is a easy upgrade internally to 64K.
You only need two 64Kx4 (4464 RAM-IC's) and 3 jumper-wires.

Wow thanks for the help that was very informative I also saw a
ram upgrade you can plug in to the back would that work
as well for the memory upgrade?

Yes, the expension on the parrallelbus will do the trick too.
It disables the 16k onboard of the XL and uses the 64k in the module.
