I am getting error 139 when trying to write to a compactflash card. It always happens after writing a few files, and it always dies on the same file...

i am using a 1GB flash card, and setting up only a 65535 sector partition for testing.. and I just..want this to work...blah... why is this happening?

Hi Thom,

Hmmm, this should not happen due to hardware.

Most likely you try to write more then 64 files to a directory (or was the maximum 32?).
In this case you need to use subdirectories to store that many files.

hope to be of help.

Cheers,
Sijmen.

Maybe the source file is giving the error.

it happens when I try to do ANYTHING after formatting the card. I get error 163, and the disk directory falls apart... Why is this happening?

When I use an older Canon 8mb card, it works perfectly, but I need a bigger card so I can use Image mode.. I bought a 1G card from Transcend, and I am praying it will work.

Hi Thom,

I have a 1G Trancend card too. Works on all Atari-systems I have.
It's a 40x speed version.

Best is to start from the beginning again.

So, download and read the manual.
http://www.atarimax.com/flashcart/forum ... .php?t=490
run fdisk, autodetect, check parameters.
make partitions / image-room like in the manual.

other option:
download the scandisk program and let this check your setup.

Let me know how it goes.

Cheers,
Sijmen.

As an update, the problem disappeared completely when I received my two SanDisk 512 meg CF cards, which work perfectly. I will never...ever....eeever...buy parts from a jar labeled SALE ever again :-P
