Post subject: Is there something different about the new MyIDE Carts? Posted: Sat Nov 15, 2008 7:50 am |

I recently received a new (clear-type) MyIDE cart. I hooked up my old Sandisk CF card/adapter and all was well. But when I tried two new Transcend modules (256 MB) the system does not recognize the modules correctly. (Says 1 head, 1 sector, 0 cylinders). A Simpletech module that worked previously with a (black-type) original cart produced a different error, but also failed in FDISK. Tried a couple more CF cards and they worked fine, so the cart clearly works -- just seems "more picky." (?)
Are the two versions of the cart different in their IC's and/or pin 20 power connections?

Update:
I tried FDISK2.XEX which also produced strange results. It gave no errors during the INIT or partition saving, but when I try to use MyDos to format the drive, I just get Error 163.
