To be honest, I have better result with CF and a CF-to-IDE-adapter.

http://www.ebay.nl/itm/Compact-Flash-CF ... 3cc219316e

about 1 euro.

Was I reading the price asked right?
$1.48 sounds like it would not even cover the manufacturing component costs for the device!
I found one at a local computer store for about $20.00 and also a postage stamp size 5gig hard drive for another $20.00.
I am having one heck of a time trying to make the build it yourself MyIDE cartridge and would have loved to have the blank factory production card. I have all the components, but trying to get all the connections on a blank homemade board with no copper coating of any sort makes it interesting to say the least. I made a blank board and drilled holes for all the components. But using wirewrap wire to duplicate the circuits is a pain!

For the 3-chip version the original layout in on my homepage ;-)

Not that much work, just a few hours soldering.
The chips are lined-up for easy soldering.
But I'm sure you are using that. XD

P.S.
Ebay/china is indeed cheap. I buy most of my hobby-stuff there.
2Gb CF-cards for 5 euro with shipping......

p.s.

from your scheme I have understood position and contacts of the 74ls245
but me I don't understand position and contacts of 74LS32 and 74LS04

4 gb is fine too, please NO kingston !
(These cards are dual voltage 3.3/5 volt and work badly).

Can you send me a link of the 4 gb card?

Sorry I do not understand your remark about the scheme.

For that type of CF card you will also need an IDE2CF adapter as it will not directly connect to the IDE connector.
Either that or a CF card that was made with an IDE connector.
The chip pins you show in the schematic with a question mark are not connected to anything.

All information is on the webpage.
Just have a good look at it...... ;-)

>----------------------------------------------------------<
Where to put the components (pin 1 is always bottem left):
IDE-connector; Top
74LS245; Left
74LS32 or better: 74F32 ; Middle
74LS04 or better: 74F04 ; Right
>----------------------------------------------------------<

Transcend is good

You need a CF-to-IDE adapter

but me not to be certain of this:)

this is the sequence of the connections to the cpu, but it is not in list the pin 17

1 - pin 1
2 - pin 8
3 - pin 26
4 - pin 27
5 - pin 28
6 - pin 29
7 - pin 30
8 - pin 31
9 - pin 32
10 - pin 33
11 - pin 11
12 - pin 10
13 - pin 9
14 - to 74LS138 pin 14
15 - pin 36
16 - pin 39
17 ?

your scheme and from the side component or side copper?

thanks

where must the pin be connected 17?

One thing I did that also may help others in their wiring of the circuit is to load up the schematic image, flip the picture horizontally and save it.
That way, if you are doing your connection wiring from the back side/copper side it will make life a lot easier.
I can not use the exact layout of the chips as shown in the diagram though as that layout will not physically fit inside a blank cartridge case.

I also am now just using the schematic for reference to connection points and am going to position the chips as the Production-MyIDE.jpg shows.
I can actually see most of the connection points in the jpg and those that I can't can be found from the previously referenced schematic.
So it is off to Radio Shack to get a board to use for the purpose.
I am dissatisfied with my original effort as the board I was trying to make did not have any copper on either side. That is where I would have liked to have some sort of pen that one could use to draw a conductive circuit on a blank piece of board!

Isn't buying one from atarimax (with flashrom for the BIOS) cheaper?
:-)
