Hello, I just got my MyIDE-II cart today and set it up according to the youtube setup video. I can run files that are .xex just fine from the fat32 loader, but I can't get a single file that is .atr to run at all. Everyone I try comes up " Error Loading OS-B Rom Image!" Press any key to continue."

I'm a total newbie here. Please Help!

I'm using a Atari 800xl with a 1gb Transcend SD card and MyIDE-II

Thanks!!!

Put the osb-rom files in the fat32-directory :-)

I read the info and watched the video, but I'm still not getting what I'm supposed to do here. I do have the .atr in the fat32 directory, I don't think it would be possible to have them anywhere else since my PC wouldn't see anything besides the fat32 partition when I'm using it to get the files on the SD card.

I seen this sentence about .atr files on the page you linked, but I have no idea what its talking about and how to use it like it says:

(Using MyBIOS for disk images is a much better way to load disk images, using the image space functionality, which will allow read/write access, better compatibility, etc.)

I can't seem to find anywhere on this site that "image space functionality" is explained how to set up and use? I mean seriously how is anyone supposed to figure this stuff out?

Sorry, but I'm just really getting frustrated that I have spent all night trying to get this going, because there is absolutely no documentation supplied with this thing. I guess I'm just supposed to know how to use it without any previous experience or spend hours digging around in forum posts instead of playing games. Okay I'm done ranting. My head hurts, I'm going to bed, Lol

I suppose its not completely clear from the posting, but you need to follow these instructions to get ATR images to load:

Quote:
You must have the following Atari 800 ROM images in the root directory of your FAT32 partition:

osb.bin
mathpack.bin

These files are available in a ZIP file attached to this posting.

If you don't want these files (or any other files/directories) to show up in the directory listing while browsing, you should mark those files as 'hidden' using your OS of choice.

These are from the post detailing the operation of the FAT32 loader, linked above, though it does not specifically say that these instructions apply to loading ATR images via the FAT32 loader.

Awesome, Thanks for the fast reply. I will give it a shot tonight when I get home from work.

Cheers, Rob

Well good news sorta. I dropped the two required files in my fat32 partition and now some of the .atr games will run, others will not. I also have a new problem now. Games that have multiple disk images are giving me fits, cause I don't know how to get it to load the multiple disks when it request them. I try the Control+Shift+#of disk and that does not work. I assume I'm doing something wrong?

Thanks for your help.

Hi Rob,

MyIDE-][ has 2 programmers.
1/ Steve Tucker (from atarimax self) created the fat32-loader for easy access "load-only" stuff.
Supports ATR, ROM/BIN, R16 (XEGS-conversions) and XEX files.

2/ Sijmen Schouten (me, Mr.Atari) created MyBIOS, a completely rewritten atari-OS for read/write access.
Supports standard drive emulation to CF as logical drives (D1 through D8) or images (D1 only with swap function)
You can find the manual, software for atari and PC here:
viewtopic.php?f=17&t=1310

I think you need to re-partition your CF-card with MyBIOS first....

In short:
-backup your fat32 to PC.
-create a MyBIOS and Fat32 partition using MyBIOS then START+SELECT+OPTION
-format fat partition on PC and restore the content.
-use myide-manager-LBA2 to drop mulit ATR's in image-slots.

Loading:
-load MyBIOS
-press/hold START
-select disk image

Lets hoop this helps you out ;-)

Later,
Sijmen.

Hello Sijmen, I really appreciate your help. I did everything as you said, but I don't understand how to "-use myide-manager-LBA2 to drop mulit ATR's in image-slots."

I read the manual for myBios, but I don't see anything that is clear about how to drop multi ATR's into Image-Slots.

When you say "MyIde Manager LBA2" What is that exactly? On my cart I have:
1) MyBios
2) Atarimax Fat32 Loader
3) MyIDE-II Hardware Diag
4) MyDos Rescue Loader

I guess I need a step by step example.

Thanks Again,
Rob

MyIDE Manager LBA2 is a PC program.
(actual file name is: MyIDEDriveManager.exe)
I's a 3th party software, so I have no manual.
The original thread is in the MyIDE-forum.

It's in the third post of my previous link.
But here is a direct link to the third post:
viewtopic.php?p=6960#p6960

Just put your CF in your card-reader and start the program.
It has a windows overlay.
When you are more of a command-line man, you can torture yourself and use a command-box and use the myidetools.exe file found in the tools-folder.
It reads MyBIOS-partitions from any device found on your PC.

Later,
Sijmen.

Okay, got some ATR's loaded in the Image Spaces. MULE and a few other games run great! Yea!!! There are lots of games that will not run, they just go to a grey screen and sit there doing nothing. I was particularly wanting to get Phantasie I, II working, but have had no luck. I read something about holding down "B" or "O" when launching the game, but that fails too. Any Ideas??

Thanks again,
Rob

Hi Rob,

You are still confusing the fat32-loader options with MyBIOS (I guess).

If you have ATR's that do not run under MyBIOS Image-space, please zip and p.m. or upload them to me.
So I can have a look at it.

If an ATR does not work, try another version or hack found on the internet.
Here is a good start:
http://atari.fandal.cz/games.php

Are you a D.I.Y-man?
Then I would advise to replace the ATARI-OS by a MyBIOS inside the ATARI.
This is the most compatible setup.
Since the MyBIOS from flash-cartridge can be disabled, erased or ignored by programs.

Later,
Sijmen.

Hi Sijmen, I guess the holding "B" when launching ATR's is only for the fat32 loader?

I downloaded ATR's from both atari.fandal and emuparadise and neither will work when running from the fat32-loader or from Image Space.
I can send you the files if you like or if you want to grab them from atari.fandal. The one I have really been wanting to get working is Phantasie II
Let me know what you think.

Tell me more about the D.I.Y Internal MyBios, where is it available to buy and does it require extensive skilled soldering?

Thanks for all your help

Cheers,
Rob

The internal MyBIOS is a 16k eprom, the file is for free to download from the link earlier.
It required soldering and burning eproms.
When you are lucky and have an early 800xl, the OS is on a socket.

I'll have a look at fandal's site and Phantasie II.
Please give me some days for this.
I'll try it on the latest internal MyBIOS, but also the beta MyBIOS-FE I'm working on at the moment.

The B-option is not mentioned in my manual, so it's fat32-loader related yes.

Later!
Sijmen.

Hmmm, the dos-version that comes with Phantasia II disables the MyBIOS.
It writes the value $FF to PORTB somewere in the boot process, when executing the AUTORUN-file.
When I intercept this on the emulator, the program loads and start.

Also tested on the internal MyBIOS, no problem here.

Interesting. Sounds like I might have to look into doing the Internal MyBios as there are quite a few games that I would like to run that must have the same issue.

Is there any way to tell if I have the older 800xl with the socketed OS like from the serial number or is the only way to know for sure is to crack open the case?

thanks,
Rob
