I have an MYIDE-ii in transit and have a question.
After reading the description, is it correct that this device also serves as a RAM upgrade usable for older software which requires +64k? Or is this available only for future projects that know how to incorporate the extra RAM via this specific device?
Thanks!

Hi,

The RAM inside the MyIDE-][ is dedicated to the cartridge-area.
So it can't be used as a standard memory-expansion as we know it.
It ranges from $8000-$C000, so the full 16k cartridge area.

The RAM can be used in full if not needed by other programs.
Size is 512k and can be bank-switched in 8k blocks, either in $8000-$A000 or $A000-$C000.
MyBIOS uses the upper 384k, leaving the first 128k free.

When you run ROM files from CF, these are loaded into RAM and then switched to Read_Only + system reset.
Hence, starting the cartridge loaded.

Grtz,
Sijmen.
